Cosmetic tattooing isn’t suitable for everyone. Treatment may not be appropriate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, under 18, have active skin conditions or irritation in the treatment area, are prone to keloid scarring, have certain medical conditions, are undergoing or have recently undergone certain medical treatments, or take medications that may affect healing or bleeding.
Conditions including eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, active acne, rosacea, extremely sensitive or compromised skin may affect pigment retention and healing.
If you are taking medication or have a medical condition you’re unsure about, please disclose this during your consultation. We may require medical clearance before proceeding.
-
Possibly. Existing cosmetic tattoo must be assessed prior to treatment..
Please send us a clear, close-up photo of your existing work. If the pigment is too dark, saturated, uneven or has shifted in colour, removal or lightening may be required before we can work over it.
-
New cosmetic tattoo treatments are a two step process. They require an initial appointment followed by a 6-8 week touch up.
Your touch up is an essential appointment that allows us to assess how your skin has healed and refine the result.
-
Pain tolerance varies from client to client however most find the treatment very manageable.
-
Under the Medicines and Poisons Act 2019 and QLD Health legislation it is explicitly illegal for cosmetic tattoo artists to sell, stock or supply topical anaesthetics as they are regulated scheduled medicines and must only be supplied and administered by authorised health professionals.
Queensland law dictates that you must be 100% responsible for purchasing your own numbing cream.
Contact a Compounding Pharmacy: You cannot buy these off a normal chemist shelf. You must contact a specialised compounding pharmacy.
Consultation and Scripting: Most reputable compounding pharmacies operate an online portal or phone consultation service specifically for cosmetic tattoo clients. A pharmacist or an associated telehealth doctor will review your medical history and write a custom prescription for your specific procedure.
Cosmetic tattoo artists are not allowed to apply (which is a form of administration) scheduled medicines. You are solely responsible for the application of your prescribed numbing cream at all times.

Allow approximately 2-3 hours for an initial appointment.
This includes consultation, mapping, colour selection, preparation, treatment and aftercare guidance.
-
Generally, yes.
The treated area will appear darker immediately after treatment and some redness, sensitivity and swelling is common. Most clients are comfortable returning to normal activities a few hours after or the following day from their appointment.
-
No. Cosmetic tattooing does not affect natural hair growth.
We factor in your existing brow hair and bone structure to determine the most appropriate shape and colour. If you have little to no natural brow hair, cosmetic tattooing may still be suitable.
-
Your shape is designed specifically for your facial structure and natural brow hair. We use your natural features to determine the basis of your brow design, we then factor in your desired outcome and any changes you want to make and apply this to the design. A natural, undetectable result is always the goal so we ensure these changes you wish to make are appropriate and tailored to your natural features. This ultimately improves longevity and lowers ongoing maintenance of your brows.
Pigment is custom blended according to your skin tone, natural colouring, existing hair and your desired healed result.
We will always seek your final approval of your mapped shape and colour selection before any tattooing begins.
This design/mapping process is a collaborative one, we want you to feel comfortable to be involved in this process so we can make sure you are happy with the result you will see in the mirror every day.
-
Your lip blush colour is customised to your natural lip colour, skin tone, undertones and of course your desired shade.
We custom blend pigments to ensure that once pigment heals under the skin and is diffused through your existing surface colour we get as close as possible to your desired result.
If you have a favourite lip product you use regularly please feel free to bring it along to your appointment. Reference images are also a great way for us to understand your preferences.
Your shape is very carefully mapped to enhance your natural lip line, improve symmetry and create more definition. We work with you exisiting anatomy rather than creating an artificial or exaggerated outline.

Your treatment will initially appear darker and more defined than the final result.
Over the following days, the skin may become dry, flaky or itchy before shedding. Once the skin sheds, the colour can appear surprisingly light, sometimes as though the pigment has disappeared.
This is a normal part of the healing process. The colour gradually settles into its softer healed result over the following weeks.

There is no exact or guaranteed lifespan.
Longevity highly depends on your individual skin, lifestyle and the treatment itself. Factors include oil production, sun exposure, skincare, skin cell turnover, pigment colour, treatment technique and aftercare.
Cosmetic tattooing is designed to gradually fade rather than remain permanently unchanged.
-
There is no set schedule.
We recommend waiting until your existing pigment has sufficiently softened and faded before refreshing it. Refreshing too frequently can result in pigment accumulation, migration and over-saturation making future treatments much more difficult to obtain a natural result.
-
Yes, but your skin type may influence which technique is most appropriate.
Very oily skin can cause fine detail to soften or blur and may retain pigment differently. An Ombre style may be more suitable as opposed to a fine hair-stroke technique.
Your artist will recommend the approach most appropriate for your skin.
-
Mature, thin or deeply lined skin requires a more conservative approach. Skin texture can affect how evenly pigment implants and heals, so results may be less predictable.
We will assess your skin before treatment and recommend what is realistically achievable.
-
We do not tattoo directly over moles, raised lesions or compromised skin.
These areas will be assessed and worked around where necessary.

Yes, but extra precautions are required.
Lip tattooing can trigger a cold sore outbreak in clients with a history or herpes simplex virus.
If you have an active outbreak on the day, treatment must be postponed. If you have a history of cold sores, please speak with your doctor or pharmacist about appropriate antiviral medication before treatment.
-
Yes,
However, your filler must be sufficiently settled before lip blush. Please disclose when your filler was last performed so we can advise appropriate timing.
-
Lip blush can create the illusion of fuller, more defined lips by enhancing colour and definition.
We do not however extend the tattoo beyond your natural lip tissue to create a larger shape.
